Hey y’all! So since Autumn has officially started I decided to dedicate my first post on this blog to this season - and I’ll probably be doing one of these types of posts for every season change!
It’s that time of the year again, leaves falling, changing weather and cosy afternoons near the fireplace. My favourite thing about this season is the cosy vibe. When I think of autumn, I picture burnt orange, plum, burgundy and warm colours; crisp air and warm nights wrapped up in blankets reading to the soft melody of a cat’s purr: I don’t know what it is about this season, but there is something peaceful and magical that I love about it.
Speaking of magical… It’s the Witch’s season! So don’t mind me, I’ll be running errands wearing all black and cuddling with my black cat as usual (Also, it’s the season where people just assume I’m dressed up for Halloween so it doesn’t shock them as much, as if I cared).
Anyway, I’m going to be giving you a couple of ideas and inspiration for stuff you can do during this time of the year (plus some great places to go to if you live in Barcelona!)
Fall in the autumn spirit (lame pun fully intended): Get in the mood by switching up your clothes, decorating your room or simply changing your phone/computer’s wallpaper. By the way, I made two wallpapers that you can download for free (link at the end of this post)! I might be uploading more wallpapers, so stay tuned for that :)
Bake something: Not only will it be fun if you’re into baking and trying out new recipes, it’ll make your whole house smell amazing too and, let’s face it, everybody is going to love you if you make cookies for them. Seriously, food is the best. Click Here for a cookie recipe
Spend an afternoon reading a book cuddled up in your bed or in a warm cafe (bonus points if it’s raining outside): I am currently reading Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, I can’t put it down!
Go to a museum: Museums are not boring I promise! If you have the Carnet Jove you have one free access for the MACBA which usually has great exhibition, and also one free access to the CCCB which generally hosts more sculpture-oriented exhibits.
Watch movies: This is a classic and something you can do any time of the year, but come on, it’s time to burst out Hocus Pocus and any Tim Burton movie, who’s with me?! Watching those movies on a chilly day on your own or with friends and a hot cup of your favourite beverage is always a good plan.
Go to the cinema: If you are craving to see something new on the big screen, some of the releases for this season are:
-The Girl on the Train: release date: 21/10 ; Genre: suspense
A film adaptation of Paula Hawkings’ popular novel, starring Emily Blunt; If you’re fond of suspense and police stories or you have read the book, you might want to go see it on the big screen!
-Ouija 2: Release date: 28/10 ; Genre: Horror
A sequel to Mike Flanagan’s Ouija, which is about a little girl possessed by a demon and how they try to save her. If you like or believe in The Supernatural and you like horror movies, then this one’s for you. Plus, it’s released three days before halloween: coincidence? I THINK NOT!
-Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Release date: 18/10 ; Genre: Adventure and Fantasy
The awaited spin off of the Harry Potter Saga, starring Eddie Redmayne narrating Newt Scamander’s adventures is a must for every Potterhead, so mark your calendars!
Hit the ice rink: Gather a couple of friends, put on your gloves and have fun on ice (it’s always fun to be silly and to see your friends (and yourself) fall stupidly, isn’t it?) Once again, if you have the Carnet jove, you’re lucky! You have a 2x1 coupon so you’ll pay half the price :)
That’s it! These are just some ideas to make the most out of this season! I hope you enjoyed it!
