Yuri!!! On Ice

If you like anime keep reading ^^ ...

Have you ever been interested in figure skating? If not, now you’ll have a reason to be! Last October, a new anime aired, called Yuri!!! On Ice.

The story of a Japanese figure skater named Yuri Katsuki, he develops mixed feelings about ice skating after losing the Grand Prix Final. After graduating from college in Detroit, he comes back home to Hassetsu in Kyushu (Japan) after being away for five years. Yuri visits his childhood friend, Yuko, at an ice rink perfectly mimics an advanced skating routine performed by his idol and famous Russian figure skater Viktor Nikiforov. The three daughters of Yuko secretly record him while doing the skating routine and upload it on the Internet. The video goes viral and catches Viktor attention.

Victor decides to suddenly travel to Kyushu to become Yuri's coach. With Viktor’s help, Yuri

aims to win the Grand Prix series as he battles against his rival, Yuri Plisetsky, a 15 year-old rising star skater from Russia. What a basic story, right? But I swear, it’s so catchy!

First of all, you have to be mentally prepared because it is not like the other sport anime that you’ve maybe seen. It’s your typical boy that wants to overcome his limits and become the best, but this time the protagonist is way more relatable because he is not full of himself and is not always sure about what decisions he should make. He’s a normal person like you and me. But everything is co-ordinated, the transitions are seamless creating intrigue and a perfectly paced rhythm. You will never be bored, I promise you.

The characters are all super friendly and relatable. The contests are beautiful, the animation of the figure skaters are on point. I can say that it’s a turning point in the history of japanese anime. By the way, if you enter in the fandom you will be welcome, because now Yuri!!! On Ice is really popular. I told you, it’s really catchy!

Sadly, Yuri!!! On Ice only has 12 episodes. The season 1 is finished now, but we all hope for a season 2. And I guess it will come because we have to know a lot of things about the characters. The first season was way too short, and we all need a season 2.

Anyway, I totally recommend you to watch it if you have the time, and I know you have it.

Open a book and you will be unlimited
